It’s an Olympic year and what could be better than Rhubarb Olympics!!

This year's Lanesboro Rhubarb Olympics will begin with the passing of the Olympic torch. Starting at the Great Rhubarb Patch in the Land of Oz (along the Root River Bicycle Trail) the torch will make it’s way down the trail passed from one great torchbearer to another through town to the Rhubarb Festival in Sylvan Park where it’s flame will light the cauldron and the Rhubarb Olympics Games will begin! Play by play action from the trail will let everyone at the Festival in the park know where the torch is and when it will be arriving to start the games.

We want to thank our very special Rhubarb Olympic Torchbearers who have given their time and support to rhubarb! Listed in order or their appearance on the Torch Trail are:

  • Cheryl Lamon - Cheryl knows her plants and she is a real “treasure”.
  • Bucky Rogers - Bucky is a winner and can tell you about rhubarb wine.
  • Julia Borgen - Julia is a leader and a doer, she gets things done.
  • Lori Bakke - Lori can make your life beautiful for any occasion.
  • Kim Reimann - Kim believes in rhubarb and can feed a crowd.
  • John Carlin - John can keep the town safe, and give a hug.
  • Dale Krage - Dale insures that your house and car are safe.
  • Hal Cropp - Hal gives a great performance on stage and off.
  • Steve Rahn - Lanesboro’s Mayor leads our town to success.
  • Julie Kiehne - Julie promotes our area and does it with a smile.

The mayor of Lanesboro, Steve Rahn, will be bringing the torch from the trail to the Lanesboro Chamber office where he will pass it off to executive director, Julie Kiehne. Julie will run the torch to the park to begin the Rhubarb Olympic Games.
