The Minnesota Legislature has recognized Lanesboro as the Rhubarb Capital of Minnesota.

Lanesboro, Minn. May 12, 2008 - Minnesota State Representative, Ken Tschumper, sponsored a House Resolution recognizing Lanesboro as the Rhubarb Capital of Minnesota. The resolution notes that our state is enhanced by communities with unique cultural activities that are deserving of special legislative recognition.


State Representative Ken Tschumper presented Bobbie Vickerman, City Administrator and Julie Kiehne, Lanesboro Area Chamber Director with the proclamation making Lanesboro the official Rhubarb Capital of Minnesota

Lanesboro’s Rhubarb Festival will be held on Saturday,
June 7, 2008 from 10 a.m. until 2p.m. at Sylvan Park in Lanesboro, Minn. There will be free tasting of rhubarb delights of all kinds from pies to chutneys and crisps to drinks. Prizes will be awarded for the Peoples Choice and the Chefs Choice.

The Rhubarb Olympics will feature five events for kids and adults. There will be a Rhubarb Rant Speakers Corner, and contests with prizes for the largest leaf or the heaviest stalk.

There will be music, food, fun and prizes. Come Celebrate Rhubarb Saturday, June 7, 2008 in Lanesboro.
